Watch: Jose Ramirez KO's Tim Anderson during White Sox-Guardians brawl

Fans attending Saturday's Cleveland Guardians vs. Chicago White Sox contest saw a baseball game break out into a boxing match, fit with a knockout.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Guardians 3B Jose Ramirez slid safely into second base ahead of a tag from SS Tim Anderson of the White Sox. Then, after the two exchanged words, all hell broke loose as Ramirez and Anderson squared up before exchanging punches. Ramirez caught Anderson with a counterpunch during the melee, knocking him to the ground.

It's unclear what started the brouhaha. However, Ramirez, who slid between Anderson's legs, seemed to take issue with how long it took the White Sox shortstop to move from over the top of him after being ruled safe.

While fighting is nothing new in baseball, one can't help but think of Rougned Odor's now infamous punch to the jaw of former Toronto Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista when seeing Ramirez's shot to Anderson.

The punches exchanged between Ramirez and Anderson weren't the end of things, as players from both dugouts and bullpens made their way onto the field. After it seemed cooler heads were ready to prevail, things fired up again. This time, groups of players and coaches met at the pitcher's mound before the sea of angry humanity spilled over into foul territory.

All in all, umpires made six ejections. Along with Ramirez and Anderson, managers Terry Francona and Pedro Grifol got the boot, as did Guardians reliever Emmanuel Clase and third-base coach Mike Sarbaugh.

The game eventually resumed, with Chicago winning 7-4, but the events could bleed into Sunday, especially with a quick turnaround. The White Sox will host the Guardians at 12:05 ET for the final game of a three-game set, which might now be must-see TV.
