Watch: Zack Wheeler loses no-hitter, shutout to Braves

Zack Wheeler hadn't given up a hit or a run for 5 2/3 innings. Thanks to an error, he lost the shutout and no-hitter in one play.

In Wheeler's first two trips through the Atlanta Braves lineup, he only allowed one hitter to reach base. Matt Olson reached when Trea Turner bobbled his second-inning grounder.

But after Wheeler walked Ronald Acuna Jr., Ozzie Albies followed with the Braves' first hit — and Turner made another gaffe.

Albies singled to right, and right fielder Nick Castellanos threw to second to hold him at first. But Turner mishandled the throw, and an alert Acuna sprinted home with the Braves' first run of the series. It took them 15 innings, but Atlanta finally scored.

It was an unusual miscue for Turner, who is normally stellar at shortstop. In Game 1, Turner erased a Braves rally — runners at the corners with one out — with a diving stop to start an inning-ending double play.

But the one hit may have opened the floodgates for Wheeler. After six one-hit innings, Wheeler allowed a leadoff single to first baseman Matt Olson

One batter later, Wheeler's former Mets battery mate Travis D'Arnaud, who has hit .381 lifetime against Wheeler, crushed a two-run home run to left to chase Wheeler from the game.
