Arman Tsarukyan's Sparring Partner Labels Charles Oliveira A 'Very Easy Matchup' At UFC 300: 'Islam Showed How To Beat Him!'
Dustin Safranek-USA TODAY Sports

Arman Tsarukyan is currently in a grueling training camp for his upcoming clash with Charles Oliveira.

At UFC 300, the pair will duke it out in a highly anticipated lightweight battle. Tsarukyan is currently on a three-fight winning streak, last defeating Beneil Dariush via first-round KO back at December's UFC Fight Night in Austin.

In a recent video from Red Corner MMA, Tsarukyan's training partner, Alexander Shabliy, discussed the threat "Do Bronx" poses. Shabliy doesn't see Oliveira as an elite-level fighter, opining that Islam Makhachev exposed how to get the better of the Brazilian jiu-jitsu master.

"In my view, Oliveira doesn't present anything outstanding as a fighter," Shabliy said. "Islam showed how to beat him. Islam showed how to submit a BJJ artist like him. Everybody used to be scared of his BJJ guard. They were afraid to go to the ground with him. Plus his chin isn't very good, he gets hit, he gets knocked down. When he goes down, everybody is afraid to go down and finish him. For me personally, Oliveira seems to be a very easy match-up."

'Charles Is Good At One Thing' - Tsarukyan On UFC 300 Opponent Oliveira

In the same video, Tsarukyan gave his own take on Oliveira's skillset. "Ahalkalakets" was complementary of Oliveira's ground game, citing his knack for taking the back of his opponents and choking them out.

However, his wording on the matter appeared to suggest "Do Bronx" was elite at just this one aspect of fighting rather than being a well-rounded competitor.

"Charles is good at one thing: taking his opponent's back and choking him out from that position," Tsarukyan said. "He has long limbs, so he's good at taking the back, locking the triangle, and finishing the submission. But overall, he's nothing special. Yes, he has some tricks when pulling guard, but nothing extraordinary. He's got a great backmount game where he chokes everybody out."
