Deiveson Figueiredo-Brandon Moreno UFC title rematch set for June 12

UFC men's flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo (20-1-1) was unable to topple challenger Brandon Moreno (18-5-2) at UFC 256 in December.

The two will run it back in late spring.

ESPN's Ariel Helwani reported on Thursday that the 33-year-old champion will again defend the strap versus Moreno, 27, on June 12. It's believed UFC 263 will take place that evening, but promotion president Dana White hasn't yet announced a card for the month's event.

Sherdog lists the UFC Apex in Las Vegas as the site for the UFC 263 card, but it's possible the company could permit fans to attend the show at a different venue with states around the country loosening restrictions for gatherings despite continued COVID-19 concerns.

As Dan Doherty noted for Cageside Press, Figueiredo and Moreno fought to a majority draw on Dec. 12 after the champion suffered a point deduction for delivering a brutal kick below the belt that nearly ended the contest. Previously, Figueiredo had won five consecutive bouts and defeated Alex Perez by first-round submission in November.

Moreno, No. 1 in the official UFC rankings for the division, won his previous three fights and also notched a victory in November. His encounter with Figueiredo is thought by many to be the best fight of 2020.
