Tristar Gym head coach Firas Zahabi recently weighed in on a potential blockbuster 145lbs scrap in the UFC.

At UFC 298, Ilia Topuria's killer knockout power scored him the UFC Featherweight Championship, where he sent longtime champ Alexander Volkanovski packing with his blistering strikes. At 145lbs, Max Holloway has long been considered the finest boxer in the weight class, often using high-volume striking to wear his opponents down.

Needless to say, with Volkanovski - who has three wins over Holloway - now off the top of the division, "Blessed" could quickly get in line for another title shot. For now, however, that will have to wait as he is set to collide with Justin Gaethje for the BMF Championship at UFC 300.

"Two Expert Boxers Going At It" - Firas Zahabi On Topuria vs. Holloway

During a recent AMA on the Tristar YouTube channel, Zahabi was asked about a potential fight between "El Matador" and "Blessed."

Zahabi highlighted both men's respective skills in boxing, suggesting it could be a pugilism masterclass despite the MMA rules and Octagon setting.

"I would love to see this match, this would be an incredible match," Zahabi said. "Whoever wins that match would not only be the best featherweight, featherweight champion, but also would be, in my opinion, the best boxer in UFC, would be the best boxer.

"So, it would be an incredible match, it would be an incredible boxing match. Two guys- and of course there would be kicks and knees and maybe a little wrestling, but not too much, it would be, like, two expert boxers going at it."

Topuria himself has seemingly put the kibosh on this match-up for now, having claimed prior to UFC 298 he had no interest in defending against divisional stalwarts such as Holloway, Yair Rodríguez, and Brian Ortega
