Julianna Pena must have been in attendance at UFC 289 to call for an Amanda Nunes trilogy, because "The Venezuelan Vixen" was furious during Nunes' retirement speech.

Pena was pulled out of UFC 289 with a rib injury and was replaced by Irene Aldana in the main event of the evening. It came as a shock for many when Nunes' decided to hang up the gloves after a decisive title defense, but this didn't stop Pena from denigrating Nunes during her retirement speech:

"Of course she's going to retire she knows that she's got to fight me... she will do anything that she can to dodge this fight.

"Don't compare yourself to Anderson Silva! Do not compare yourself to Anderson Silva! Shut up! [Pena boos Nunes] "You suck!"

This wasn't the beginning of Pena's verbal assault on Nunes' during fight week, as she told "SHAK MMA" on June 8 that she made Nunes relevant again in their first fight:

"Everybody always has that one person that's just stuck in their butt, and that's me for Amanda [Nunes], and I know that she knows that.

"I think at the end of the day that she's probably really thankful for me making her relevant again when I beat her, because no one really cared about Amanda Nunes because she was just stomping everybody out and knocking them out in the first round."

Unfortunately for Pena, the trilogy rematch is most likely out of the question. Nunes, 35, relinquished both her women's featherweight and bantamweight titles at UFC 289, leaving the sport with her legacy intact.
