Gilbert Burns Unsurprised By Ilia Topuria's Title Win After Witnessing Training KO Spree

Gilbert Burns wasn't surprised by Ilia Topuria's devastating performance to win the featherweight title at UFC 298.

The undefeated Georgian-Spaniard stopped Alexander Volkanovski in the first round to produce by far the biggest win of his career to date in Anaheim.

During an interview with Luke Thomas for Morning Kombat, Burns said that he had watched Topuria prepare for his main event clash with Josh Emmett at Kill Cliff FC in Florida.

He shared stories from the gym of how he saw up close and personal the level of strength and power that "El Matador" brings to the table.

"This guy came here to the gym, he did half of his camp against Josh Emmett here and he knocked out three of my teammates, not down, out with the big gloves. With the big gloves, I'm gonna say that one more time, with the big gloves, out. I saw him training, I saw him grappling and, bro, he's not a big dude, he's not a tall dude, but he's solid."

'Rampage' Jackson Makes Claim Of Sizable Payday For 2007 Victory Over Chuck Liddell

During a recent episode of the Jaxxon Podcast, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson claimed he was able to make a huge payday for one fight back in 2007.

Jackson said that the pay-per-view clause he had in his contract during his time in WFA was carried over when he signed with the UFC.

After beating Marvin Eastman on debut, "Rampage" went in for a rematch with Chuck Liddell at UFC 71, which he won via first-round knockout.

Jackson claimed that the PPV clause he had in his contract massively worked in his favor before the UFC realized what was at play and adjusted its plans.

"What helped me out later though, they (WFA) gave me a crazy PPV deal because they knew they wasn't gonna do PPVs and then Dana White, the UFC, they bought my contract. So, when I fought Chuck, they had to give me — I made like millions just off the PPV. I made about seven million off the Chuck Liddell fight. My first time even telling anybody. But then, they figured out that my PPV was crazy, so my next fight, when I fought Dan Henderson, was on TV."

Kamaru Usman Honest On Whether Adesanya vs. Du Plessis Outcome Will Affect His Middleweight Plans

Kamaru Usman made a late-notice move up to middleweight in his last fight to take on Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 294.

Though he may have come up short on that night, it opened up a new possibility for "The Nigerian Nightmare" following the incredible legacy he has left behind at welterweight.

During his time as the 170-pound champion, one thing stopped him from striving for two-weight champ status: the title reign of his friend, Israel Adesanya.

With Adesanya likely to return in the near future to face current champion Dricus Du Plessis, Usman told MMA Junkie that the result of that fight would effect whether or not he chooses to stay at middleweight for the foreseeable future.

"It does play a factor, yes, a bit" Usman said. "Because, I mean, I'm sitting right up there, I mean, it's not like, oh, I'm jumping into the top 15 slowly and fighting 14 and 13 and 12, no. I'm right up there, so it's one of those things.

"Had Sean Strickland stayed the champion, I mean, that's a- you know, it's a no-brainer fight, you know? Myself and Sean Strickland have fought before, that made sense but, unfortunately, that's not the case now. If they do do the Adesanya and du Plessis [fight], makes sense, yes, though obviously the winner of that would- you know, the outcome of that would kind of play a factor in my decision."
