Charles Barkley goes off on Aaron Rodgers
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Charles Barkley has had enough of Aaron Rodgers and at least one of the Jets quarterback's bizarre rants. As he was promoting his new talk show Wednesday, the former NBA legend gave an honest answer if someone insinuated he was associated with Jeffrey Epstein.

Barkley appeared on "CBS Mornings," Wednesday, to talk about his new weekly talk show with morning host Gayle King. The show, entitled "King Charles," wants the two to talk about the hottest topics of the week. On Wednesday, that topic involved Rodgers’ recent remarks in regard to ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel.

That’s when Barkley bluntly stated what he’d do to Rodgers if the quarterback said the same to him. King teed up the question.

“I’d punch him in the face,” Barkley said. Then King asked what he meant by that. Sir Charles, with all his candor, quickly replied “You know what the hell ‘punch him in the face’ means.”

Barkley’s comments were just the latest P.R. problem for Aaron Rodgers, although we don’t think he’ll be doing any punching. Also on Wednesday, Pat McAfee confirmed that Rodgers won’t be returning to his ESPN show the rest of this season. Granted, it’s now the NFL postseason.

“Aaron Rodgers Tuesday season four is done,” McAfee said on his show. “There will be a lot of people who are happy with that, myself included. The way it ended, it got real loud.”

Rodgers appeared every Tuesday, with McAfee giving him free reign to talk about whatever was on the quarterback’s mind. Last week, Rodgers dropped Kimmel’s name in the conversation and connected the comedian with the so-called Epstein list a judge was readying to release. Kimmel threatened a lawsuit last week.

Then on Monday, Kimmel blasted Rodgers in his monologue for "Jimmy Kimmel Live." He joked that the only A’s Rodgers made during this three semesters at Cal were the two when he wrote his first name.

“But here’s the thing, I spent years doing sports,” Kimmel said of Rodgers. “I’ve seen guys like him before. Aaron Rodgers has a very high opinion of himself. Because he had success on a football field, he believes himself to be an extraordinary being. He genuinely thinks that because God gave him the ability to throw a ball, he’s smarter than everybody else. The idea that his brain is just average is unfathomable to him. We learned during COVID somehow he knows more about science than scientists.”

Meanwhile, we’re not sure if Barkley saw Rodgers’ clarification on the McAfee show in regard to what he said about Kimmel. For one, Rodgers told McAfee it was a joke. He mentioned that Kimmel started their feud several years ago during the pandemic. And then he seemed to direct his comments directly to Kimmel.

“I’m not stupid enough, even though you think I’m an idiot, and you made a lot of comments about my intelligence,” Rodgers said. “But I’m not stupid enough to accuse you of that without absolutely zero concrete evidence. That’s ridiculous. So I’m glad, and I think we can agree on something, is that one, those crimes are heinous, and two, I’m glad you’re not on the list.”
