 Detroit Pistons Reportedly Trade Former NBA 1st-Round Pick

On Wednesday evening, the Detroit Pistons  will be in California to face off against the Sacramento Kings.  

Before the game, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the team has made a trade with the Utah Jazz.   

Via Wojnarowski: "The Utah Jazz are trading Simone Fonteccio to the Detroit Pistons for a 2024 second-round pick, sources tell ESPN."

Via Wojnarowski: "Kevin Knox, 2024 second-round pick via Wizards and draft rights to Gabriele Procida to go Jazz in deal, sources tell ESPN."

Knox, who was the ninth pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, had been averaging 7.2 points and 2.4 rebounds per contest while shooting 46.2% from the field and 33.3% from the three-point range in 31 games.  

Meanwhile, the Pistons will get Fontecchio, who is in his second season in the NBA and is averaging 8.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per contest while shooting 45.0% from the field and 39.1% from the three-point range in 50 games. 

The Pistons are currently the 15th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 6-43 record in 49 games.  

They are 3-7 over their last ten games and are also in the middle of a three-game losing streak. 

Following the Kings, the Pistons will visit the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday evening in Oregon. 

As for the Jazz, they are the tenth seed in the Western Conference with a 26-26 record in 52 games. 

They are 4-6 over their last ten games and are also in the middle of a two-game winning streak. 

On Thursday evening, the Jazz will visit the Phoenix Suns in Arizona.
