Former Clippers Player Expected to Sign With Eastern Conference Contender

In a report from Patrick Beverley via his Pat Bev Pod account on X (formerly known as Twitter), it was announced that veteran free agent Marcus Morris is expected to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Morris and Beverley were teammates with the LA Clippers and again with the Philadelphia 76ers, so it makes sense that that the veteran guard would have this intel. Morris was traded from the 76ers to the San Antonio Spurs at the trade deadline, and was waived by San Antonio prior to the playoff eligibility deadline, which means he will be eligible for the postseason.

Players needed to be free agents before March 1st in order to be playoff eligible, so Morris (who was waived on February 29th) will join a Cavaliers team that looks to make a deep push in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

The Cavaliers are currently 3rd in the Eastern Conference, just a half game back of the second seed Milwaukee Bucks. Having played great basketball for several weeks, Cleveland has put themselves in position to potentially grab a top-two seed in the Eastern Conference, which would give them home court advantage in any series not against the Boston Celtics.

With Morris expected to join the Cavaliers, he will provide them with front court depth even if he doesn't play heavy minutes.
