Veteran point guard Goran Dragic relished the opportunity to be back on the floor once again, as he made his debut for the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night against the Detroit Pistons in a 126-117 victory. Playing in his first game since February 13 when he was still with the Chicago Bulls, "the Dragon" admitted he was still trying to get back his rhythm but was nevertheless grateful to finally suit up for his new team.
"It was a long time waiting for this moment, and it's finally here," said Dragic.
The 36-year-old Slovenian guard played just nine minutes but still managed to rack up three assists. Afterward, Dragic admitted he felt rusty, but it was understandable given the long layoff.
"Rusty, a little bit, but I'm just happy to be out there with the teammates. I tried to do whatever I can," said Dragic.
The Bucks acquired Dragic in early March after the Bulls waived him. Pundits and rival teams alike considered the move a coup for the Bucks, who added a veteran point guard to their lineup. Dragic says he's looking forward to getting back into his groove.
"I still need to get there. This is my first game with the team. I still need to, you know, learn the plays and everything but so far, so good. I'm just taking this day by day, and we'll see where we'll go," shared Dragic after the Pistons game.
