The Heat have signed center Cody Zeller, the team announced in a press release.
Zeller, 30, has not played since last season, when he appeared in 27 games with the Trail Blazers, averaging career-lows of 5.2 points and 4.6 rebounds, before suffering a right patellar avulsion fracture.
He then became an unrestricted free agent and has remained unsigned since — though he did attend training camp with the Jazz, as we relayed here. Utah waived him on Oct. 15.
The Heat recently brought in him for a workout, and clearly, liked what they saw enough to bring him on board.
Zeller spent the first eight years of his career with the Hornets, who selected him with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, back when they were still known as the Bobcats.
As we relayed earlier, former Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love also officially signed with the Heat, the team making the announcement in a press release.
