As the Delaware Blue Coats get ready for the G-League's Showcase Cup, they've made a move to bolster their roster.

The Philadelphia 76ers have assigned Jaden Springer to the Blue Coats for the mid-season tournament, the team announced.

Springer has been a rather frequent for the Sixers as of late, putting up seven points on an efficient 42 percent shooting.

This isn't the first time this season that Springer has been assigned to the Blue Coats, as he appeared earlier in the month, dropping 19 points, including three shots from behind the arch against the Greensboro Swarm.

Although only playing in one game, Springer had more than enough good things to say about the team as a whole, including head coach Mike Longabardi.

[Mike Longabardi’s] a great coach, got a great group of guys,” said Springer, “I’m hoping to see some big things from them. It was fun being around there, seeing the energy, and seeing how close the team is, it was pretty cool.”

Springer will slot into the spot left by David Duke Jr., who was recently acquired by the San Antonio Spurs on a two-way contract.

The Blue Coats go into the Showcase Cup, a competition that they won in the 2021-22 season, off of a close loss to the Long Island Nets, the G-League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets.

Ricky Council IV put up 32 points on a stellar 57 percent from the field, with Javonte Smart dropping 26 points and nine assists.

The Showcase Cup is set to take place from December 19th to 22nd.
