Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Reveals Difference Between Lakers and Nuggets Championships

In an exclusive interview with Inside The Nuggets, Denver Nuggets forward Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was asked about winning his second NBA championship after winning one with the Los Angeles Lakers in the bubble.

"It felt good," Caldwell-Pope said. "The first one, didn't get a chance to experience as much, the parade, experiencing it with the fans and stuff like that. But the second one was great, being able to do that with my family and being able to experience the parade."

When asked if there was added motivation going against the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals, Caldwell-Pope said, "No, we just had, you know, me and a couple of old friends, we texted before. Even just meeting in the Conference Finals, we had some words then, you know like brothers. But no, it was fun just to play against them and also just go through them to get to the championship."

A key piece to the Nuggets' title, Caldwell-Pope is thankful his second championship came with the entire experience. The Lakers never got a parade for their 2020 championship, so while Caldwell-Pope was already an NBA Champion, this was his first opportunity to experience a parade with the fans.

As for going through the Lakers in route to this title, it wasn't any added motivation for Caldwell-Pope, but he did say it was fun to compete against his former teammates.
