LeBron James is in perfect position to make ‘OG Super team’ with Stephen Curry, Chris Paul, and Kevin Durant
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

With the playoff 1st round over, most of the veteran superstars have headed back home. With time winding down, LeBron James needs to decide his future. Considering that Kevin Garnett feels that James is in the perfect position to team up with Stephen Curry, Chris Paul, and Kevin Durant to make a Super Team.

While talking to Paul Pierce on the show Ticket & the Truth, the former champion Garnett gave his take on this situation.

If I'm Bron, I got the phones out right here. I got KD on one line, I got CP on one line, I got Steph on one line... and we catching up. This is the first time I think that all the old superstars could actually be on one team and go out with a hurrah. I'm talking about the situation where we at. I'm just talking about the all the old talent that is getting ready to go out the league. Paul Pierce said

Leave it to the Hall of Famer Garnett to come up with something audacious. Even though it is audacious, Garnett does have a point.

Teaming up would mean that none of them will be questioned by anyone with regards to their legacy. However, one issue does persist. LeBron James and Chris Paul have overlapping skills as the primary playmakers. On the other hand, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant are the primary scorers.

However, having overlapping skills means they can take turns dominating the game and not fight fatigue. Kevin Garnett believes winning titles would be the best send-off the four of them can give each other when they hang up their shoes.

LeBron James needs another star if he stays with the Lakers

Other than theories, in all likelihood, LeBron James will stay with the Los Angeles Lakers. Considering his family is now settled there and his business ventures are scattered around Los Angeles, it is highly unlikely that he will move to another team. However, he would love to win another title before he retires. That 5th title could move him to the top of the GOAT debate.

To win that, he needs a solid supporting cast around him. Anthony Davis was enough in 2020. But in this era of the NBA, and with James’ increasing age, the need for a third superstar could not be more evident. At age 39 and entering his 22nd season, it would be senseless to ask James to continue taking on the scoring burden.

The Los Angeles Lakers front office needs to bring in that third superstar. Or at least improve the team so that they can be helpful when the playoffs come around. The clock is ticking.
