Report: Pacers Could Have Trade Interest In Warriors’ Andrew Wiggins
D. Ross Cameron-USA TODAY Sports

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Indiana Pacers could have trade interest in Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins.

The Pacers have also been linked to Warriors swingman Jonathan Kuminga.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, there is a rising belief among rival teams that the Warriors are increasingly open to the idea of trading Wiggins. Golden State is in 12th place in the Western Conference standings and Wiggins is averaging a career-low in points.

“Given the limited success Golden State has found when pairing Jonathan Kuminga with Andrew Wiggins, there is a rising belief among rival teams that the Warriors are increasingly open to the idea of trading Wiggins, who was an integral component of their title run in 2022,” Stein wrote. “The question persists: What sort of market exists for Wiggins, even though he possesses what is regarded as a team-friendly contract, so soon after he was relegated from the Warriors’ starting lineup?”

Wiggins has appeared in 33 games this season. He’s averaging 11.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.3 steals and 0.4 blocks while shooting 41.8% from the floor, 29.8% from beyond the arc and 68.9% from the free-throw line.

The Warriors signed Wiggins to a four-year, $109 million extension in October 2022. A one-time All-Star, Wiggins is making $24.3 million this season.

The first overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft out of Kansas, Wiggins has career averages of 18.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.7 blocks with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Warriors. He helped the Warriors win the 2022 title over the Boston Celtics in six games and was awarded a contract extension, but he hasn’t played well since getting the extension and now it appears his time in Golden State could be coming to an end.

The Pacers are in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings. They are led by star point guard Tyrese Haliburton.
