This Knicks-Celtics trade proposal sends Jaylen Brown to New York

One NBA writer is proposing that the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks make a blockbuster trade this summer centered around Jaylen Brown.

Michael Saenz of Fansided proposed that the Knicks send RJ Barrett, Quentin Grimes, Josh Hart and two draft picks to the Celtics for Brown.

“If there is an all-out bidding war for Jaylen Brown this offseason, the New York Knicks have to be considered one of the favorites – assuming the Boston Celtics wouldn’t mind trading him in-conference,” Saenz wrote. “New York arguably has the best and most trade assets heading into the offseason, headlined by numerous trade-eligible future first-round picks and a plethora of young players that would be appealing to opposing teams on the open market."

Brown is eligible to sign a designated veteran extension with the Celtics this summer. The star swingman averaged 26.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists this season for Boston. Brown has one year left on his contract. He will make $28.5M next season and hit unrestricted free agency in the summer of 2024 if the Celtics don’t sign him to an extension.

The Celtics lost to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals in seven games, while the Knicks lost to the Heat in the Eastern Conference semifinals in six games.
