Wizards' Bradley Beal enters health and safety protocol
Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports

Washington Wizards star guard Bradley Beal is in the NBA's health and safety protocol and will miss Monday's preseason game at Charlotte, the team said Sunday.

The Wizards said he will return to play when he is cleared under current NBA guidelines.

Beal, 29, was the third overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Wizards and is entering his 11th season with the team. A three-time All-Star, he has career averages of 22.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists.

Last season, Beal averaged 23.2 points, 6.6 assists and 4.7 rebounds in just 40 games. He underwent season-ending surgery on his left wrist in February.

In July, he signed a five-year, maximum $251 million that contains a full no-trade clause.

The Wizards open the 2022-23 season on Oct. 19 at the Indiana Pacers.
