Wizards Sign Jay Huff to Two-Way Contract
Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

The Wizards have signed center Jay Huff to a two-way contract, the team announced in a press release.

Huff, 24, is 7-foot-1 and appeared in four games with the Lakers last season after signing a two-way deal. The Lakers then waived him in January, before he signed with them again in the fall. He was waived again before the start of the season.

Initially, he signed a training camp contract with the Wizards in 2019 but failed to make the regular-season roster.

Instead, most of Huff’s time has been spent with the South Bay Lakers of the G League. He currently leads the G League in blocks at 3.4 a game.

In 47 games over two seasons with South Bay, Huff is averaging 15.1 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.9, shooting 64 percent from the field.

The Wizards had an open two-way slot after promoting guard Jordan Goodwin to the standard roster. After waiving center Vernon Carey Jr., they still have an open roster spot.
