Analyst Has Bold Prediction for Los Angeles Rams’ Jared Verse
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Rams looked to bolster their pass rush with their first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, selecting Jared Verse out of Florida State. It was the first time the Rams were making a first-round pick since 2016 when they selected quarterback Jared Goff out of California first overall.

Jared Verse spent the last two seasons with the Seminoles after beginning his collegiate career in the FCS with Albany. In two seasons at Florida State, he cemented his status as a premier playmaker, totaling 29.5 tackles for loss and 18 sacks.

With Aaron Donald announcing his retirement this season, the Los Angeles Rams needed some talent along the defensive front. Verse will be joined by his Florida State teammate, defensive lineman Brandon Fiske, who was selected in the second round.

What can we expect to see from the No. 19 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft? ESPN fantasy football analyst Stephania Bell believes Jared Verse is going to hit the ground running. In a recent piece, she selected the Florida State product to win the Defensive Rookie of the Year award.

“Verse comes ready-made to slot right into the Rams’ front seven. He is talented and powerful, and the Rams’ defense needed an edge rusher who could make an immediate impact. Verse recorded a team-leading 18 sacks and 83 pressures in the past two seasons at Florida State,” Bell wrote.

Jared Verse has an incredible work ethic and the ability to stay on the field for all three downs, two qualities that will help him be in the running for accolades. The other top pass rushers in this draft class don’t possess the same production against the run, which should give him a leg up on the competition.

There are some limitations, as his arms aren’t the longest that you will find from an edge rusher. But he more than makes up for it with his effort level and motor, as he isn’t taking plays off. The Los Angeles Rams have a new player to build their defensive front around with Donald moving on.
