Bengals claim former Browns kicker Austin Seibert off waivers

The Cincinnati Bengals have claimed Austin Seibert off of waivers after the kicker was cut by the Browns after a disappointing game.

Seibert missed both a field goal and an extra-point attempt in Cleveland's 38-6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, causing the Browns to call up Cody Parkey from the practice squad to take his place. The Bengals were quick to pick up Seibert, as they may need him for their Thursday night game against the Browns.

Randy Bullock, the Bengals' starting kicker, is recovering from cramps in his calf but is expected to be able to play. Coach Zac Taylor confirmed Bullocks' status and said that if healthy, he is their guy.

"We expect Randy to kick this Thursday as he works through his tightness," Taylor said. "Randy is our kicker."

However, if Bullock is not available, then it will be up to Seibert to help the Bengals win their first game of the season. Seibert was drafted in the fifth round by Cleveland in the 2019 NFL Draft and was solid in his rookie season, converting 25 of 29 field goals and making 85.7% of his extra-point attempts.

The signing also adds further intrigue to whether or not Bullock was actually injured at all, as there has been some speculation that he may have faked an injury after missing the game-tying kick against the Chargers. Bullock claimed that his left cramp cramped but video appears to show him grabbing his right leg after the kick.
