Buccaneers lend Lombardi Trophy to COVID-19 vaccination campaign

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are encouraging people to get vaccinated, and they've come up with a clever way to get people to receive their shots.

A vaccination clinic in Tampa will have the Lombardi Trophy on Wednesday, and anyone who receives the COVID-19 vaccine can take a picture with the hardware, according to Jamal Thalji of the Tampa Bay Times.

NFL teams have been promoting the coronavirus vaccine for months, and several franchises have even offered up their stadiums to serve as vaccination sites. For example, New England Patriots fans were able to receive the vaccine at Gillette Stadium, which ended up being quite popular.

The NFL also released a memo in April strongly encouraging players, employees and fans to receive the vaccine. Players who receive the vaccine will be subject to different protocols during the 2021 season, such as not having to wear masks.

While some players are advocating for vaccinations, others are not. Buffalo Bills wide receiver Cole Beasley said he would not receive the vaccine and would rather retire than get vaccinated.
