For Arizona Cardinals linebacker Markus Golden, the end of the week has included some good news and some bad news.
The eighth-year pro reportedly agreed to a one-year contract extension worth up to $6.5 million on Friday. However, he also recently suffered a bizarre, unfortunate toe injury.
#AZCardinals OLB Markus Golden said he dropped 50-pound kettlebell on his foot, fracturing a toe. That's why he missed practice, not because of his contract.

"I'm going to come out and do my thing no matter what. Of course you want to get paid, but that hasn't been on my mind."
The incident continues a trend of odd injuries to occur to NFL players -- particularly in the NFC -- to occur in the last 24 hours or so.
Dak Prescott missed practice because new cleats were too tight. Markus Golden dropped a kettlebell on his foot. AJ Brown stung by a bee. Every day challenges in the NFL.

Golden was selected by the Cardinals in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft and spent the first four years of his career with the organization. He joined the New York Giants ahead of the 2019 campaign before being traded back to Arizona October 2020.
Golden finished the 2021 season with 48 combined tackles, 19 quarterback hits, 11.0 sacks and four forced fumbles across 16 games (five starts).
