Chiefs' Travis Kelce addresses Taylor Swift theory before Dolphins game

Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce spoke with reporters Friday about the theory that suggests he and his teammates play better this season when singer/songwriter Taylor Swift is in attendance amid their reported relationship.

"I think it's pretty much a coincidence," Kelce said ahead of this Sunday's game between the 6-2 Chiefs and 6-2 Miami Dolphins in Frankfurt, Germany, per Adam Teicher of ESPN. "I've had some pretty big games in my career, so yeah, I think it is a bit of a coincidence, for sure."

Individuals in the NFL community such as Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and Dallas Cowboys star pass-rusher Micah Parsons previously commented that Kansas City's two losses on the campaign occurred when Swift wasn't in the building. According to Teicher, Kelce averaged nine catches for 108 yards across games when she was in attendance compared to the five receptions for 50 yards he averaged when she was elsewhere.

Kelce recorded six catches for 58 yards and no touchdowns when Swift wasn't at Empower Field at Mile High for last Sunday's 24-9 loss to the Denver Broncos. The future Hall of Famer later called his performance versus Denver "a pretty embarrassing game."

Kelce declined on Friday to confirm or deny if Swift will attend this Sunday's matchup.

"When I mention or everybody knows that she's at the game, the over-under on my catches kind of goes up and down," Kelce explained. "The spread goes up and down. I don't want to mess with any of that stuff, so I'm just going to keep it to myself."

As of Friday afternoon, OddsChecker listed the Chiefs as 1.5-point favorites against the Dolphins. One can't help but wonder if sportsbooks have some inside information about Swift's travel plans as she prepares to start the international portion of her Eras Tour in Argentina next week.
