Commanders defensive star profanely voices displeasure with repeated losing

Washington Commanders defensive tackle Jonathan Allen has been a member of the team since the start of the 2017 season. During that time he has seen a lot of losing and he finally reached his breaking point on Sunday following his team's 14-7 loss to the New York Giants.

Allen began by talking about how the Giants physically dominated the game, with a lack of focus from his teammates creating problems.

He saved his harshest words for when he was asked if that situation is frustrating.

He did not hold back at all when asked by JP Finlay of NBC Washington.

“[Expletive] yes it does. I’m [expletive] tired of this [expletive]. I’m [expletive] tired of this bull[expletive]. It’s been seven [expletive] years of the same [expletive]. I’m tired of this [expletive].”

His frustration is understandable. Allen has been a star in Washington's defense for seven years and has never even gotten close to a Super Bowl. During his time with the organization, the team has never had a winning season and has only made one playoff appearance, winning the NFC East during the 2020 season. They ended up losing their subsequent playoff game by a 31-23 margin to the eventual Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Allen was originally a first-round pick by Washington (No. 17 overall) in 2017 and has made the past two Pro Bowls.

At some point he would like to be a part of a winning team, but that has not happened yet in Washington. Given the way the Commanders are playing this season offensively, it seems unlikely that is going to change anytime soon.
