Cowboys could find immediate replacement for Tyler Biadasz without using a first round pick
Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys should be looking into adding a center ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft and there seems to be a strong consensus that Jackson Powers-Johnson is a legit option in the first round even though that seems to be slowly fading away due to injury concerns.

However, if the mission is to replace Tyler Biadasz, the Cowboys might have another option in the second round for even better value:

Zach Frazier from West Virginia.

Interestingly enough, A to Z Sports film specialist James Foster listed Biadasz as the player comparison for Frazier, who ranks 63rd overall on his board and 41st on the consensus board.

Zach Frazier Scouting Report

You can read Foster's full breakdown on his Big Board but below is a summary:

Strengths

  • Intelligent & aware center. Makes Mike IDs & deciphers stunts efficiently
  • Crafty, independent hand usage in pass protection
  • Coordinated 2nd-level climbs in wide zone
  • Light feet to mirror pass rushers laterally
  • Quick & firm punch off of the snap, with hands inside the defender's frame
  • Excellent core strength & leg drive to displace defenders off the LOS

Weaknesses

  • Short arms limit his range of impact
  • Had a season-ending leg injury in the final game of 2023
  • Might lack reactive athleticism to mirror cross-face moves from walked-up LBs
  • Allows defenders to establish first contact & gain early control

The comparison to Biadasz makes so much sense specially because of the first strength listed above, which is how Frazier approaches the position mentally speaking. As a rookie, Biadasz drew comparisons to Travis Frederick because of his control of the offense.

If the Cowboys get their hands on Frazier, they might get a plug-and-play second-round rookie just based on that.
