Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy has no concern over Dak Prescott's status for Sunday

Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Dak Prescott made an appearance on the team's injury report on Thursday for an ankle issue that limited him in practice.

A starting quarterback showing up on the injury report that late in the week, just before the season opener, was certainly going to cause a little bit of concern among the Cowboy's fan base.

But on Friday head coach Mike McCarthy reassured everybody that it was mostly precautionary and that he has no concern over Prescott's availability for Sunday night's game against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“He’s going to be a full participant today,” McCarthy said on Friday, via the Dallas Morning News. “I anticipate he’ll be the same tomorrow so I do not have any concern for Sunday."

The Cowboys have some pretty significant question marks on their offense this season after trading Amari Cooper in the offseason and then losing starting left tackle Tyron Smith to injury. Add in the uncertainty at running back with Ezekiell Elliott and Tony Pollard splitting time and a lot is going to fall on Prescott to keep the machine running.

Prescott is coming off a big season for the Cowboys in 2021, throwing for 4,449 yards, 37 touchdowns, and only 10 interceptions to help lead the team to a 12-5 record and an NFC East Division title.
