Cowboys owner Jerry Jones: Odell Beckham Jr. is 'going to join us'

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones can't seem to agree with himself about how close he actually is to signing Odell Beckham Jr. this month.

"Odell’s going to join us," a seemingly confident Jones told Jarrett Bell of USA Today for a piece updated Friday afternoon. Jones then expressed some doubt about that comment.

"There’s a good chance he will, with the complete goal of getting ready for a playoff game or two, and then I’ll look to the future. But most of it being about now," Jones added about acquiring the free-agent wide receiver.

Jones also told Bell that an agreement with Beckham good only through the remainder of this season could become official after 10-3 Dallas plays at the 5-8 Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday. The Cowboys host the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles (12-1) on Christmas Eve.

Beckham recently left a meeting with the Cowboys without a contract. It was later reported that some within the organization were concerned following his physical that he wouldn't be ready for action "before mid-January" at the earliest as he recovers from the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Dallas then signed former Indianapolis Colts receiver T.Y. Hilton earlier this week.

As mentioned by the Cowboys' website, though, Jones told Dallas sports radio station 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday that "there's going to be continued interest in Odell" even after the club added Hilton to the roster. It seems Beckham sitting out through the remainder of the regular season is no longer a deal-breaker for Jones, assuming it was in the first place.

"Could this be possible to have a great player like that get in two or three playoff games and make some significant plays? I think very much so," Jones said about OBJ while speaking with Bell. "That’s not an exaggerated thought at all."

Look for the Cowboys to announce the signing of Beckham sometime on Monday -- probably, or definitely maybe.
