Darius Slay has a bizarre marriage-related reference to Nick Sirianni changing team’s DC mid-season
Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Things are falling apart in the Philadelphia Eagles camp after their blowout loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL Wildcard Round. Loads of questions are coming from outside as well as from the inside. The latest to join the bandwagon is Darius Slay, one of the defensive leaders of the Eagles team.

Addressing the defensive restricting process halfway through the season in front of the media, Slay used some weird words. He added that the defensive restructuring was like adjusting to two marriages while living in the same house. That is why it got difficult for the Eagles’ defense in the league.

Slay told reporters in the Eagles’ locker room on Wednesday:

I’ve never been part of that, a whole new coordinator coming in. That’s tough, but I don’t control that kind of stuff. I just try to do my job the best I can. Trying to find two identities. It’s tough. It’s like having two marriages. You know how hard two marriages would probably be in a household? Two personalities of two women? That’s tough. No offense to the women. That’s crazy talk. One might want her feet rubbed, one might want her shoulder rubbed. That’s crazy.

Darius Slay told the reporters

It is no secret that the Eagles’ head coach Nick Sirianni changed the defensive structure of the team. Frustrated by the performance of the defense, the HC demoted Sean Desai and put his assistant Matt Patricia in the position of the defensive playcaller. The Eagles suffered because of the inabilities in the defensive line and the decision was thought to be providing the solutions. Nonetheless, it had an adverse impact as the team lost four out of their five games and the defense performed horribly.

Is Nick Sirianni to go after the poor result of the Eagles?

Considering the performance of the Eagles, there are multiple claims that Sirianni has to go by taking all the responsibilities behind this poor performance. Things went so bad that the media asked Jalen Hurts whether he would love to see Sirianni back at the HC designation.

The quarterback, who also did not have a great season, handled the situation diplomatically. Here is what he had to say:

I didn't know he was going anywhere. I have confidence in everyone in this building. It's just a matter of us playing clean football and that's been something that we haven't done . Jalen Hurts said, addressing the reporters

Any official news of Sirianni’s deportation has not been announced. It is to be seen whether the HC remains in his position or announces his departure.
