Less than 24 hours after choking a game away to the Tennessee Titans, the Miami Dolphins are making moves.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported on Tuesday that the Dolphins are signing free-agent pass-rusher Melvin Ingram. The 34-year-old Ingram had been unsigned to this point of the 2023 campaign.

Ingram, a former first-round pick, was a three-time Pro Bowl selection with the Los Angeles Chargers. He also already played for the Dolphins and head coach Mike McDaniel last season, appearing in all 17 games and recording 6.0 sacks plus two fumble recoveries (including one for a touchdown).

Miami’s front seven is reeling right now as Jaelan Phillips is finished for the season and another important outside linebacker in Jerome Baker just went on injured reserve too.

The Dolphins recently worked out a different blast-from-the-past defensive name, but it looks like they will be going with the option that they are already familiar with in Ingram.
