Dolphins coach shares rough news on Jaylen Waddle
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel shared a rough update on Monday concerning the status of Jaylen Waddle.

McDaniel told reporters that the injury Waddle suffered on Sunday is looking more like a high-ankle sprain rather than a shin injury as initially thought.

Waddle had one catch for 50 yards in Miami’s 22-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 16 on Sunday. He also took one carry for two yards on an end-around play, which is where he got hurt.

There are only two games left in the regular season before the playoffs begin, so it’s possible that Waddle will miss the rest of the regular season.

Miami is 11-4 and has clinched a playoff berth. The Dolphins visit the Ravens in Week 17 and host the Bills in Week 18. It’s quite possible — if not likely — that the game against Buffalo in Week 18 will be for the AFC East.
