Dolphins Reveal Brutal Injury Update On Jalen Ramsey
Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey is now listed as questionable for his team’s critical Week 17 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens due to a knee issue, via Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk.

This is particularly concerning given that Ramsey given that the star defensive back missed the first eight games of 2023 while recovering from a torn meniscus that he suffered during training camp.

The report does not specify if it’s the same knee that Ramsey had surgically repaired (it was the left knee).

Since Ramsey has returned, the Dolphins’ defense has shown significant improvement. When he first made his way back on to the field in Week 8, Miami ranked 21st in the NFL in yards allowed. Now, heading into Week 17, the Dolphins rank third in that category.

While there have certainly been more factors that have led to Miami’s defensive advancement, there is no question that Ramsey’s presence has been a big reason for the boost.

In eight games, the 29-year-old has logged 16 tackles, three interceptions and five passes defended.

Ramsey is in his first season in South Beach after coming over in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams back in March. The Dolphins sent a third-round draft pick to the Rams in exchange for his services.

The Florida State product was originally selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the fifth overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He spent the first three-and-a-half years of his career with the Jaguars, establishing himself as one of the best cornerbacks in football. Ramsey made a couple of trips to the Pro Bowl in Jacksonville and also earned a First-Team All-Pro selection in 2017. The Jags then proceeded to trade him to Los Angeles midway through the 2019 campaign.

Jalen Ramsey spent parts of four seasons with the Rams, making the Pro Bowl all four years. He also notched First-Team All-Pro honors twice. Most importantly, he helped lead LA to a Super Bowl championship during the 2020-21 campaign.

The Dolphins are 11-4 and are battling with the Ravens (who are 12-3) for the No. 1 seed in the AFC. They can also clinch an AFC East division title with a win this Sunday.
