MAR 22 FALCONS RE-SIGN GERMAIN IFEDI

The Atlanta Falcons are bringing a member of their offensive line back into the fold.

According to NFL Network, the Falcons are re-signing Germain Ifedi to a one-year deal.

Ifedi, who turns 29 in June, appeared in all 17 games for the Falcons last season, primarily as a special teams contributor.

MAR 21 COWBOYS SIGN CHUMA EDOGA

The Dallas Cowboys have added to their offensive line by signing Chuma Edoga, the ex-Atlanta Falcon who played in just two games this past season.

Edoga brings experience at both tackle and guard, having played in 24 games with the New York Jets over the span of three seasons. The 25-year-old replenishes depth upfront that was lost when the Buffalo Bills signed starting left guard Connor McGovern via free agency.

MAR 17 QB MOVE 

Former Falcons’ QB Marcus Mariota is making the jump to a new team, reached an agreement with the Philadelphia Eagles on what ESPN reports is “a one-year, $5 million deal worth up to $8 million.”

Mariota will be the Eagles’ No. 2 QB this season behind Jalen Hurts. Mariota spent most of last year as the Atlanta starter before giving way to rookie Desmond Ridder.

Ridder should be the Atlanta starter in 2023 with Washington Ex Taylor Heinicke just signed this week as the other top QB.

MAR 15 RODGERS TO JETS

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers announced on the Pat McAfee Show that he intends to play for the New York Jets this season.

A trade should be coming sometime soon.

Rodgers and the Jets host the Atlanta Falcons in 2023 at MetLife Stadium.

MAR 12 BAKER TO BUCS?

The quarterback carousel in the NFC South is turning just before the start of free agency.

According to NFL Network, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are targeting Los Angeles Rams quarterback Baker Mayfield to potentially start for them next season.

Mayfield signing with the Bucs would mark his return to the NFC South after he started the 2022 season as the Carolina Panthers' starting quarterback.

MAR 11 BUD GRANT PASSES AWAY AT 95

The NFL community is mourning a big loss Saturday.

Bud Grant, the Hall of Fame coach who led the Minnesota Vikings to four Super Bowl appearances, has died at the age of 95, the Vikings announced.

"We are absolutely devastated to announce legendary Minnesota Vikings head coach and Hall of Famer Bud Grant has passed away this morning at age 95. We, like all Vikings and NFL fans, are shocked and saddened by this terrible news."

MAR 10 PANTHERS MOVE TO NO. 1

A rival of the Atlanta Falcons is on the clock.

According to NFL Network, the Carolina Panthers have traded two first-round picks (including No. 9 this year), two second-round picks and wide receiver D.J. Moore to the Chicago Bears for the No. 1 overall pick.

Many anticipate that the Panthers will select one of the top quarterbacks with the pick.

MAR 7 RAVENS TAG LAMAR JACKSON

The Baltimore Ravens have placed the non-exclusive tag on Lamar Jackson, allowing him to negotiate with other teams.

Any team that signs Jackson will give the Ravens the opportunity to match the salary or acquire him in exchange for a pair of first-round picks.

The Atlanta Falcons, who hold the second-most cap space in the league, are a rumored destination for Jackson and could be the team that makes the deal.

MAR 6 DEREK CARR TO SIGN WITH SAINTS

The New Orleans Saints have their quarterback.

According to NFL Network, the Saints are nearing an agreement with former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.

Now, the Atlanta Falcons will face Carr twice a year in the extremely tight NFC South.

FEB 25 LAMAR JACKSON PHOTOSHOP EXCITES FALCONS FANS

A photoshopped video showing an available Atlanta Falcons jersey for Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson went viral on Twitter Saturday.

Jackson has been working towards a long-term deal with the Ravens, but Baltimore's likeliness to use the franchise tag on him has led fans to believe that the former MVP may seek a trade this offseason. The Falcons are one of the likeliest destinations for Jackson should he ask for a trade.

FEB 22 FALCONS RE-SIGN LIAM MCCULLOUGH

The Atlanta Falcons are bringing back a familiar face.

According to his Instagram page, the Falcons have re-signed long snapper Liam McCullough.

McCullough, 25, went undrafted in 2020 but found a home with the Falcons in 2022 and played all 17 games for Atlanta last season. Now, he appears to be running it back for another season with the Falcons.

FEB 17 ALVIN KAMARA INDICTED

After being charged with assault alongside three other people last February, New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara has been indicted by a grand jury.

The hearing for the case had been pushed several times over the past year, but will move to district court on Mar. 2.

Once the district court resolves the issue, the NFL will then decide if Kamara should face further discipline.

FEB 14 DEREK CARR RELEASED

The Derek Carr trade saga with the Las Vegas Raiders has come to an end as the franchise cut the veteran quarterback on Tuesday afternoon, according to a report by ESPN

After meeting with the New Orleans Saints last week as part of a potential trade, Carr reportedly refused to take a pay cut and declined to waive his no-trade clause, effectively preventing the Raiders from trading him.

With no trade worked out, the Raiders cut Carr before "more than $40 million of his contract" would have been guaranteed. Now that Carr is a free agent, he could present a potential target for the Atlanta Falcons. 

FEB 12 SUPER BOWL ENDS IN CONTROVERSY

The Kansas City Chiefs are Super Bowl champions after a 38-35 win against the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday night.

The game came down to the final drive, where the Chiefs drove down inside the red zone. On 3rd-and-8 with just under two minutes to go, Eagles cornerback James Bradberry IV was called for holding on Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster.

A few plays later, Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker knocked down the go-ahead field goal with eight seconds to go, which led to the win.

FEB 6 ANOTHER VACANCY 

The Atlanta Falcons have another vacancy to fill after quarterbacks coach Charles London accepted a job with the Tennessee Titans, where he'll serve as the passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach. 

London spent two seasons with the Falcons as the quarterbacks coach after joining from the Chicago Bears, where he served as the running backs coach. 

London's new job in Tennessee comes after serving as the offensive coordinator for the American team in the Reeses' Senior Bowl.

FEB 6 A.J. GREEN RETIRES

Former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver A.J. Green is calling it a career after 12 seasons.

Green was drafted with the No. 4 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, two picks ahead of the Atlanta Falcons, who traded up to take Julio Jones at No. 6.

Green is one of 52 players all-time to record over 10,000 yards receiving in a career, giving him a great shot to enter the Pro Football Hall of Fame someday.
