Fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em: Is Kyler Murray a viable option in his season debut?

With several of the NFL's top offenses on bye this week, setting your fantasy football starting lineup could be challenging, especially with a slate filled with games expected to be low-scoring. Here's what to do about a few players you may be on the fence about plugging in to your lineup for Week 10.

Quarterbacks

Start: Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals

Falcons at Cardinals / 4:05 p.m. ET Sunday

While starting Murray in his first game after tearing his ACL comes with some risks, he should be locked in as a weekly starter. Joshua Dobbs was the 12th-best fantasy QB during his eight-game stint with the Cardinals, and while he has proved to be a viable fantasy option, he doesn't offer nearly as much upside as Murray. In addition to allowing an NFL-leading 10 passing touchdowns over the last four games, Atlanta has surrendered the seventh-most rushing yards to quarterbacks this season (214), setting Murray up to showcase his dual-threat ability in his debut.

Other starts: Jared Goff, Detroit Lions; Will Levis, Tennessee Titans

Sit: Sam Howell, Washington Commanders

Commanders at Seahawks / 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday

Although he has the second-most passing yards this season, Howell remains a matchup-based fantasy quarterback, and regardless of Seattle's blowout loss last week, it is a tough test for the Commanders signal-caller. Over the last five contests, the Seahawks have allowed the seventh-fewest passing yards per game (204) and conceded just four passing touchdowns while tallying five interceptions. It seems unlikely that Howell can top 300 passing yards for the third consecutive game against this defense, yet it wouldn't be surprising if his three-game turnover streak extends.

Other sits: Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers; Deshaun Watson, Cleveland Browns

Running backs

Start: James Cook, Buffalo Bills

Broncos at Bills / 8:15 p.m. ET Monday

Cook's inconsistent workload continues to limit his fantasy ceiling, with the second-year back scoring less than nine PPR points in each of his last two games. At this point, it's safe to assume Cook won't be given a workhorse role, but as long as he gets roughly 15 touches, he's a reliable starter. Considering Denver is the easiest matchup for running backs this season (27.2 ppg allowed) and listed as a seven-point underdog, Buffalo's game script should be favorable to Cook.

Other starts: Detroit Lions backfield; Javonte Williams, Denver Broncos

Sit: Gus Edwards, Baltimore Ravens

Browns at Ravens / 1 p.m. ET Sunday

Just as we all could've expected, Edwards has been the top-scoring fantasy RB overall over the last three weeks, thanks in large part to his six touchdowns in that time. Although he'll continue to handle the goal-line role for the NFL's top rushing offense, Edwards' touchdown streak may end against a defense that has allowed two scores on the ground to running backs this season. If Edwards doesn't score a touchdown, he becomes practically unstartable, averaging 5.66 PPR points in games where he fails to find the end zone.

Other sits: Najee Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers; Devin Singletary, Houston Texans

Wide Receivers

Start: Calvin Ridley, Jacksonville Jaguars

49ers at Jaguars / 1 p.m. ET Sunday

It's apparent that Ridley is a boom-or-bust type of player, which is frustrating considering many anticipated he'd become Jacksonville's No. 1 receiving threat. However, the 10 targets Ridley saw in his last game suggest he's trending in an encouraging direction and could have a massive impact this week for the red-hot Jaguars. San Francisco is an advantageous matchup for wide receivers, giving up 24.2 fantasy points per game to the position, the sixth-most among defenses.

Other starts: Tank Dell, Houston Texans; Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seattle Seahawks

Sit: Jakobi Meyers, Las Vegas Raiders

Jets at Raiders / 8:20 p.m. ET Sunday

Despite the fact that Meyers has established himself as one of the more notable steals from fantasy drafts, his last two outings have raised concerns. Meyers followed up a one-catch performance in Week 8 by posting 13.5 PPR points last Sunday, but most of his production came courtesy of a designed run that resulted in a touchdown. The Jets already allow the fewest fantasy points per game to wideouts (12.1), and without the substantial target volume Jimmy Garoppolo provided, all signs point to Meyers having a disappointing game.

Other sits: Zay Flowers, Baltimore Ravens; George Pickens, Pittsburgh Steelers

Tight Ends

Start: Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints

Saints at Vikings / 1 p.m. ET Sunday

Hill has been a cheat code for fantasy over the years, yet his production has never been as consistent as it has been lately, making him a must-start option. Over the last four games, Hill has been the TE2 in PPR scoring formats, catching 16 of 19 targets and scoring five total touchdowns (three rushing, one passing and one receiving). He's been New Orleans’ top red-zone weapon this season, and given his utilization, don't be surprised if Hill is the highest-scoring tight end this week.

Other starts: Hunter Henry, New England Patriots; Trey McBride, Arizona Cardinals

Sit: Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Titans at Buccaneers / 1 p.m. ET Sunday

Otton, who was probably sitting on your waiver wire, broke out last week and finished as the TE3. The 24-year-old will likely be a popular streaming option in Week 10, and though it's easy to predict he won't replicate his latest showing, Otton could have a lackluster game against the Titans. Tennessee is the fifth-worst matchup for tight ends and the only team that hasn't allowed a touchdown to the position this season.

Other sits: Jake Ferguson, Dallas Cowboys; David Njoku, Cleveland Browns
