Former Panthers TE Hayden Hurst Signs with Chargers
USA TODAY Sports

After being released by the Carolina Panthers, veteran tight end Hayden Hurst has signed a deal with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Hurst appeared in nine games this season and caught 18 passes for 184 yards and a touchdown. The lone score came in the season opener against the Atlanta Falcons, which was also the first touchdown pass of Bryce Young's career. His time in Carolina may have been short, but everyone will remember him chucking Young's first TD ball rows deep into the crowd at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

During the team's Thursday night game in Chicago in mid-November, Hurst suffered a concussion and never appeared in another game for the Panthers. His father, Jerry, revealed an update on his son's condition a couple weeks later, revealing that he was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Amnesia.

Hayden called it a "scary" situation, but not a career-ending injury.

Tommy Tremble and Ian Thomas are now the top two options for Carolina at tight end.
