Former Stanford Cardinal Safety Justin Reid Fulfills 11-Year-Old's Dream
USA TODAY Sports

A young artist's dream came true on Sunday, and it all began with portraits he drew of former Stanford safety Justin Reid this past summer.

11-year-old, Cade Nichols, a Nebraska native, attended a Kansas City Chiefs' training camp a few months ago. While there, he asked one of Reid's teammates to deliver drawings he sketched to Reid. This caught the safety's attention.

Not only did Nichols receive game-worn cleats for his favorite athlete, but FOX4’s Regan Porter also set up for the young artist to meet Reid over a FaceTime call.

“Thank you so much,” Nichols said to Reid over the FaceTime call.

“Absolutely Cade,” Reid responded.

Nichols arrived to Arrowhead on Sunday where he was able to physically be face-to-face with Reid, standing right next to his all-time favorite player. This will be a moment Nichols will hold in his memory for the rest of his life.

“How you doing buddy, Did you enjoy your first game? Did you have fun? Reid asked.

“It’s always better when you win,” Reid added.

Nichols' mom might have been even more shocked than the 11-year-old.

“Cade can you believe your dream is happening right now?” his mom asked.

The young artist was also able to step foot the the field and sprinted a 40-yard dash in front of Reid.

While the run may have caused Nichols a need to catch his breath, the 40-yard dash may not have been the only reason reason he needed to take a breather. At just 11-years-old, he was able to meet and get a signature from his hero, something at a lot of people are not able to check off their bucket list in their lifetime.

“I just met Justin Reid and a bunch of other Chiefs players," Nichols said with a grin on his face. "I’ve got his auto(graph) on my back."
