Gabe Davis Hints At Bills Exit With Social Media Post
Gregory Fisher-USA TODAY Sports

The Buffalo Bills have a very difficult salary cap situation heading into the offseason, meaning that wide receiver Gabe Davis may have played his final game with the franchise.

Davis seems to understand that.

After the season ended, Davis was very diplomatic when asked about his future with the Bills, likely seeing the writing on the wall that the club will not be able to pay him what he wants.

Then, on Tuesday morning, Davis took to his X account to post a highlight reel that could essentially be viewed as a farewell message to Buffalo with his free agency looming.

The Bills are currently $54.2 million over the cap, so the very thought of re-signing Davis—who has been a very productive member of their receiving corps—sounds a bit outlandish.

Davis will certainly be one of the more intriguing wide outs available next month, and while he definitely is not a No. 1 guy, he is an explosive pass-catcher who could seriously bolster another team’s offense.

The 24-year-old is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he played every game and caught 45 passes for 746 yards and seven touchdowns.

Davis, who played his collegiate football at the University of Central Florida, was selected by Buffalo in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

He appeared in every contest during his rookie season, registering 35 catches for 599 yards and seven scores. He posted nearly identical numbers the following year, snaring 35 balls for 549 yards while reaching the end zone six times.

Then, in 2022, Davis had a breakout campaign of sorts, hauling in 48 receptions for 836 yards and seven touchdowns as he became one of Josh Allen’s favorite targets.

Gabe Davis will surely get a decent contract from someone next month. It just probably won’t be from the Bills.
