Giants interview Bills assistant GM Joe Schoen for vacant GM position

The New York Giants have wasted no time looking for a replacement for Dave Gettleman, announcing they interviewed Buffalo Bills assistant GM Joe Schoen on Wednesday.

Schoen, 42, brings 20 years of NFL executive and scouting experience to the table, rising in the ranks in the Miami Dolphins' organization before joining the Bills in 2017. According to the Giants' team page, Schoen's NFL career got started when he became a ticket office assistant for the Carolina Panthers in 2000.

With such a lengthy resume, Schoen is garnering attention from multiple NFL teams with the Chicago Bears reportedly requesting to interview him as well. The Giants requested to interview Schoen one day after Gettleman announced his retirement as senior vice president and GM.

It's been a busy few days for the Giants following last weekend's season-ending 22-7 loss at the hands of the Washington Football Team. New York announced Tuesday they had fired head coach Joe Judge after two seasons which were capped off with six-straight losses to end the 2021 campaign.

Although Judge has already been shown the door, there is still speculation as to whether Giants' brass wanted to keep him for another year and debate as to whether Gettleman is more to blame for New York's woes than Judge is.
