Jason Kelce meets Eagles rookie OL Dylan McMahon: 'Undersized center?'
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia Eagles legendary center Jason Kelce may be retired, but that's not going to stop him from popping by NovaCare Complex every now and then.

Kelce did just that last week ahead Eagles rookie minicamp.

There was one rookie in particular who was a bit starstruck running into Kelce during his first day at the facility, and that was Eagles' sixth-round pick Dylan McMahon.

“Undersized center?” Kelce said as soon as general manager Howie Roseman introduced the two in the weight room.

Kelce (6-3, 266 lbs), also a former sixth-round pick back in 2011, knows a thing or two about being doubted as he was once in the same shoes as the 6-foot-3, 299-pound offensive lineman from NC State.

"We have that in common,” McMahon said. “And just talked a little bit about football and the guys I’ll be facing regularly in our division. He said just make sure you’re staying in the weight room. You can put good weight on you with your frame and your body. There’s places to put good weight on, weight and muscle. He wished me good luck. Like I said it was pretty surreal meeting him. He said he hopes to be able to help me out in any ways he can, so that will be pretty cool.”

Kelce even went as far as to give McMahon his phone number for any questions or help he may need heading into training camp. McMahon plans to use the number, though, sparingly.

“I don’t wanna bug him,” he said. “I’d do it every day if I could but he’s got his own stuff going around. Luckily, he gave me his number so if I ever have a question or anything I might just hit him up. If he doesn’t reply, because I know he has a lot of stuff going on, but hopefully he will eventually. But as much as I can without bugging him for sure.”

It's not going to be an easy offseason for McMahon considering the Eagles already have a solidified offensive line and Cam Jurgens is expected to slide into the starting center job.

But McMahon will get a chance, just like Kelce had.
