Jordyn Brooks' 2024 free agency contract projection
? Jessica Rapfogel-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL's regular season is over, which for most teams, means it's time to start figuring out plans for the offseason.

NFL free agency is a huge part of the process, and along with the NFL Draft, it has everyone preparing for what should be a very active couple of months.

We've officially come up with our own contract projections for the NFL's top free agents that include context behind each player's 2023 season, the likelihood of a franchise tag, the projection itself, and the first-year cap hit for a team that's “all-in” and is needing to reduce that first-year hit in order to maximize their cap dollars.

So, without further ado, let's check out the projection for Seattle Seahawks linebacker Jordyn Brooks.

Jordyn Brooks 2024 Contract Projection

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Brooks stands out as a productive tackler and run defender at the heart of Seattle defense, and barely saw regression in a season where he defied medical projections by recovering from a torn ACL and getting back on the field within eight months of injury. It would have made sense for Brooks to have a slow start to the season, but his first-half splits actually far outpaced his second half. 53 of 74 his solo tackles and 32 of his 42 stops came in the first eight games of Brooks' season, potentially because of recurring ankle issues throughout December.

However, Brooks’ sophomore season saw him rack up 184 total tackles, and he followed up with 161 in 2022. Even if his total tackles were down in 2023 (111) with the slow finish to the season, he added a newfound pass rush component with 4.5 sacks and made strides in his coverage, particularly in man.

Had Brooks notched another Herculean 160+ combined tackle season as he had the prior two, he’d have a strong case to compete against Queen as the top linebacker on the market. As it stands, Brooks will have suitors but he’ll likely be disappointed with the initial offers and have to settle with a shorter-term deal as he proves his health and trajectory are on the right track.

  • Franchise Tag Likelihood: Medium
  • 2 years, $19 million, $9.5 million APY, $7 million GTD
  • Year One Cap Hit: $2 million
