Kyler Murray wants James Conner more involved in Cardinals offense

Cardinals QB Kyler Murray told reporters on Wednesday that he would like to see RB James Conner more involved in the offense.

"He's one of your best players, got to give your best players the ball," Murray said, adding "I think we'll do that."

Murray's comments are a not-so-subtle message to Kliff Kingsbury to shake up the offense, which managed just 12 points in a loss to the Rams on Sunday. Murray threw 58 passes, while Conner had 13 rushing attempts. The offense had to be a bit pass-heavy with the Cardinals trailing most of the way, but Murray clearly would've liked to see Conner have a prominent role early on.

Conner's 13 carries were a season-high, after he totaled just 17 between the first two weeks. While Murray calls him one of the Cardinals' best players, Conner hasn't been efficient on the ground this season. The 2021 Pro-Bowler is averaging only 3.0 yards per carry, and his 7.3 yards per catch are down significantly from last season.

A shakeup might be in order for the Cardinals regardless, as they sit 1-2 through three weeks and would be winless if not for some two-point conversion magic against the Raiders in Week 2.
