Las Vegas Raiders release former first-round offensive guard in the midst of an offensive line dilemma
Mitchell Layton-USA TODAY Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders have a dilemma on the offensive line. They currently need three offensive linemen, and it's looking like that will happen through the draft.

They need a starting-level right tackle, as Thayer Munford, last year's backup, didn't show quite enough to be a full-time starter, even though he had good moments when he did play. They also need a starting right guard and now a backup who can play left and right guard as a depth piece.

They had the depth at guard with Jordan Meredith and D.J. Fluker , but their recent decision changed that. On Friday, the Raiders released D.J. Fluker, who had been signed earlier this offseason.

Fluker was a former first-round pick, and maybe the Raiders thought they could get some good production out of him but they changed their minds. Now, this signifies that they will certainly draft at least one interior offensive lineman unless they can get Greg Van Roten to come back on a cheap deal.

Either way, fans should be confident that the Raiders will have a decent offensive line in place for their rookie quarterback in 2024.
