A former New England Patriots second-round draft pick is announcing his retirement from the NFL. His decision came in Week 5.
A long-time New England Patriots LB retires
According to Mike Reiss with ESPN, linebacker Jamie Collins is retiring from the NFL.
LB Jamie Collins, who had 3 stints with the Patriots, has 2 SB rings, and led the NFL to ban a play due to his high-end athleticism, says he’s officially retired.

The Patriots drafted Collins in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Collins earned All-Pro with the Patriots in 2015. He was the league’s forced fumble leader that season with five.
The Patriots traded Collins to the Cleveland Browns in 2016.
Collins played with the Patriots again in 2019 and the 2021-22 seasons. His practice squad contract expired at the end of last season. Collins did not sign with another team in the offseason or this season.
Collins was on the Patriots team that won Super Bowl XLIX. He finished his career with 12 interceptions, 19 forced fumbles, and 708 total tackles.
