Micah Hyde's 2024 free agency contract projection
Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL's regular season is over, which for most teams, means it's time to start figuring out plans for the offseason.

NFL free agency is a huge part of the process, and along with the NFL Draft, it has everyone preparing for what should be a very active couple of months.

We've officially come up with our own contract projections for the NFL's top free agents that include context behind each player's 2023 season, the likelihood of a franchise tag, the projection itself, and the first-year cap hit for a team that's “all-in” and is needing to reduce that first-year hit in order to maximize their cap dollars.

So, without further ado, let's check out the projection for Buffalo Bills safety, Micah Hyde.

Micah Hyde 2024 Contract Projection

Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

Hyde has long been one half of one of the better safety tandems in the game, but at 33 and less than two years out from a major neck injury that ended his 2022 season, Hyde is no longer one of the top players at his position, anymore.

Hyde’s abilities in coverage have been eroding over the past few seasons, as evidenced by his yards per coverage snap increasing from 0.16 in 2020 to 0.35 in 2021, to 0.62 this past year. But he still managed to defend seven passes and pick off two more as the Bills defense experienced a late-season resurgence.

For any team looking for a veteran presence who can help mentor a room, you would be hard-pressed to find a better option than Hyde. There are physical limitations, but he can be counted on to be where he is supposed to be on most reps.

  • Franchise Tag Likelihood: Low
  • Projected Contract: 1 years, $3.25M, $3.25M APY, $3.25M GTD
  • Year One Cap Hit $3.25 million
