Names to know for Super Bowl LIII

The Super Bowl LII matchup between the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams is set for Feb. 3, 2019. Here's a list of the most important names to know entering the game.

Belichick is in his 19th season as Patriots head coach. A former assistant under Bill Parcells, Belichick is appearing in his ninth Super Bowl as head coach of New England, and he's going for his sixth Super Bowl victory with the team.

McVay is in only his second season as head coach of the Rams, at age 33. He's the youngest head coach to ever lead a team to the Super Bowl. His grandfather John McVay was the general manager of the San Francisco 49ers and constructed multiple Super Bowl teams.

McDaniels was first promoted to Patriots offensive coordinator in 2005. He had a two-year stint in 2009-2010 as head coach of the Denver Broncos and also spent one year as the St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator in 2010. He returned to the Patriots in 2012.

The son of former NFL head coach Bum Phillips, Wade has been a coach in the NFL since 1976. He's had multiple stints as an NFL head coach, but has led the Rams defense since McVay came on board in 2017.

The most accomplished quarterback in NFL history, Brady will be going for his sixth Super Bowl win in his ninth appearance. The 41-year-old has won three NFL MVP Awards and ranks fourth all time in passing yards and third all time in passing touchdowns.

The first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, out of California, Goff is 24-7 during the regular season over the last two years after going 0-7 in his rookie campaign. He had a career year in his third season, with 4,688 yards passing and 32 touchdowns.

The 31st overall pick in this year's draft out of Georgia, Michel had an excellent rookie season with 931 yards rushing and six touchdowns in 13 games. He's been New England's primary ball carrier this season when healthy.

The 2015 Offensive Rookie of the Year and 2017 Offensive Player of the Year, Gurley finished the regular season with 1,831 yards from scrimmage and a league-leading 21 touchdowns. He did miss the last two games of the regular season with a knee injury and saw only five touches during the NFC championship.

White is a receiving specialist out of the backfield for the Patriots, finishing the regular season with a career-high 87 receptions for 751 yards and seven scores. He added five more touchdowns on the ground. White had an outstanding performance in Super Bowl LI, and many considered him deserving of winning MVP of the game over Tom Brady after finishing with 139 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns.

Denver's starting running back over the last two seasons, Anderson signed with the Rams late in the year after he was released by the Panthers and Raiders. He's played a key role for L.A. late in the season and into the playoffs, with Todd Gurley nursing a knee injury.

Cooks is appearing in his second consecutive Super Bowl but with a different team. The speedy wideout spent the first three seasons of his career with the Saints before getting traded to New England last year, and then he was traded to the Rams this season. He had one of his best seasons in 2018, with 80 receptions for 1,204 yards and five receiving touchdowns.

A former college quarterback, Edelman has been with the Patriots since being drafted in 2009. The speedy wideout is a key part of the Patriots offense, with 74 receptions for 850 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games during the regular season, and he also serves as the team's primary punt returner.
