Packers release final injury report before MNF date against Giants

The Packers play their next game in prime-time, but they’ll be doing so without receiver Christian Watson. That’s according to the injury report the team issued following Saturday’s practice.

Green Bay is 6-6. And if the playoffs were held today, the Packers would be the seventh and final seed in the NFC bracket. So they can’t afford to overlook the New York Giants, the Packers next opponent. The two teams are part of a Monday Night Football double feature.

Losing Watson won’t help their cause. The second-year receiver strained his hamstring during last Sunday’s home upset of the Kansas City Chiefs, the defending Super Bowl champs. Jordan Love and Watson combined on two touchdown passes before Watson limped off the field.

“Christian’s a big part of our offense, and he’s really hit his groove,” Packers coach Matt LaFleur told reporters after the team finished its final practice before heading to the Meadowlands in New Jersey.

“He made so many great plays the last few weeks, but I feel good about the other guys. I think they’ve really developed and got a lot of guys we can move in different spots to help pick up for that loss.”

Watson has 28 catches for 422 yards with five touchdowns this season. He missed the first three games, but since then, has emerged as a good option for Love.

The Packers also probably will be without linebacker Quay Walker. Green Bay listed him as doubtful with a shoulder injury. Jaire Alexander, Aaron Jones, Darnell Savage and Eric Stokes are all questionable. Stokes was a full participant in practices all week. But the other players were limited.

Although the Packers have a chance of making the playoffs, the post-game isn’t an option or the Giants. New York’s season has been a rocky one, with the Giants losing quarterback Daniel Jones for the season with a neck injury. But they’ve won their last two games as the team rallies around rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito, an undrafted free agent.
