Pro Bowl DT makes huge admission about future with Commanders

Washington Commanders defensive tackle Jonathan Allen has made his discontent with the team's losing ways known multiple times this season.

When asked Monday if he ever thinks about leaving the franchise that selected him with the 17th overall pick in 2017, Allen said, "1,000%."

Following Washington's loss to the lowly Chicago Bears in Week 5 on "Thursday Night Football," the 28-year-old joined part owner Magic Johnson as well as a host of teammates in criticizing the team's performance, saying, "We got our [butts] kicked."

Then after the group's defeat against the New York Giants in Week 7, Allen said, "I'm [expletive] tired of this [expletive]. I'm [expletive] tired of this bull[expletive]. It's been seven [expletive] years of the same [expletive]. I'm tired of this [expletive]."

Despite the Alabama product's stardom, Washington hasn't had a winning season during his tenure with the franchise and has only made the playoffs once. The Commanders won the NFC East in 2020 with a 7-9 record and then lost in the wild-card round against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Since starting 3-3 this year, Washington has lost six of its last seven, (including four in a row) to fall behind the Giants for last place in the division at 4-9.

Allen, who's made back-to-back Pro Bowls and leads the team with 15 quarterback hits, has already seen fellow star DL teammates Chase Young and Montez Sweat shipped off midseason to the San Francisco 49ers and Bears, respectively.

Allen is second on the Commanders this year in both sacks (5.5) and tackles for loss (nine). Barring injury, he could soon be the team leader in both categories, as he only trails Sweat in sacks (six) and Sweat and defensive tackle Daron Payne in tackles for loss (10).
