Raiders Release LB Cory Littleton

The Raiders have released LB Cory Littleton after two seasons with the team. Littleton signed a three-year, $35 million contract in 2020. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that Littleton will be designated a post-June 1 release, which will eventually save the team $11+ million against the cap in 2022.

Littleton didn’t live up to the value of his contract during his time with the Raiders. In a recent article reviewing previous the Raiders’ previous offseasons published here at the LVChronicle, the Littleton contract was labeled “a miss.”

With the late-season emergence of rookie LB Divine Deablo and the cap savings available to the team with the release of Littleton, his release comes as no surprise as the new league year is about to begin.

Head coach Josh McDaniels, general manager Dave Ziegler, and defensive coordinator Patrick Graham will all be looking to bolster the team’s linebacking unit in 2022 and beyond.

Littleton appeared in 31 games for the Raiders between the 2020 and 2021 seasons, making 27 starts.
