Ravens Rival Browns Hire Mike Vrabel
© Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

There will be a new coach in the AFC North next season with an old familiar face to AFC teams. Per reports, the Cleveland Browns are hiring former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel to act as a coaching and personnel consultant next season.

Vrabel was surprisingly fired by the Titans in January after a disappointing 6-11 season.

The former NFL linebacker was reportedly in attendance with the Browns at the NFL Combine last month in Indianapolis serving as a consultant, and now, the team is making it official.

Vrabel won three Super Bowls as a player in New England and also spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs.

In six seasons in Tennessee, the Titans posted a 54-45 regular season record and went 2-3 in the playoffs. The team's best season under Vrabel was 2019 when the team advanced to the AFC Championship game, losing to the Chiefs.

That was the last postseason win for Tennessee under Vrabel, who lost in the Wild Card round in 2020 and 2021.

Vrabel played college ball at Ohio State and is from Ohio, so his arrival in Cleveland is a bit of a homecoming. He also coached for the Buckeyes for three seasons before joining the NFL ranks in Houston as linebackers coach in 2014.
