Report: Green Bay Packers Rumored to Have Unexpected Reunion in 2024

According to MJ Hurley, the CEO of Third Down Thursdays, the Green Bay Packers are interested in a reunion with Micah Hyde. The safety spent his first four years in the NFL with the Packers from 2013-16. If the rumor reported above is true, it could be the first time he puts on a Packers uniform in eight seasons.

Micah Hyde’s Great 2023 Return

Last season was pivotal for Hyde’s future. That is because Hyde missed the majority of the 2022 NFL season due to a neck injury. Considering this happened when he was 32 years old, it was fair to question if Hyde would ever be the same player again.

Well, Hyde answered that question emphatically in 2023. Hyde had 54 combined tackles and two interceptions last season. While it was not his best statistical year, it was certainly a performance that showed Hyde still had something left in the tank.

Looking Back on Green Bay Packers Years

As mentioned above, Hyde spent his first four seasons in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers. So, how did he do during that stretch? Well, he had 217 combined tackles and eight interceptions in those four seasons. After those four seasons, he spent the next seven seasons with the Buffalo Bills.

Green Bay Packers Moving Forward

The Packers have been busy this offseason before this rumor came out. So, what have the Packers done so far?

One of the most notable things the Packers have done is sign RB Josh Jacobs . He replaces Aaron Jones, who signed with the Minnesota Vikings . Green Bay also already acquired help for their secondary in S Xavier McKinney.

With that in mind, do the Packers even have room to sign Hyde? Well, the Packers still have about $27 million to spare when it comes to salary cap space. We will have to see if that is enough for the Packers to have a reunion while loading up their secondary even further.
